Infinity Star Rating

My friend and I had such a wonderful experience at Red Hill B&B!! The owner, Chef Herbert and his Assistant Samantha, along with Jack and Olive the sweetest most beautiful dogs, made us feel so welcomed and treated us like Royalty!!! They all have left a mark in our lives and we are forever grateful for making our weekend so amazing!! The Chef spoiled us at every meal with 4 courses of the most delicious food we have ever eaten! The B&B has sooo many beautiful rooms and views. The 100 year old Magnolia tree was mind blowing beautiful. I highly recommend that everyone experience all of this at Red Hill B&B!!! You will NOT regret it I promise!!!
10000 stars!!!

My husband and I spent our wedding night at Red Hill. I cannot say enough good things about this place! The Chef/Owner was absolutely fantastic and made our special occasion even more special by offering splendid accommodations and an even more splendid breakfast. The Chef made us a 3 course breakfast including homemade toast and croissants, homemade orange juice, grape juice, and peach juice, as well as beignets and crépes. My husband and I felt like we were royalty. The property is is beautifully kept and provided us many great memories as we start our marriage.
Stunning
Beautiful bed and breakfast! Fine dining in the Virginia mountains!
Amazing stay at Red Hill
Amazing stay at Red Hill B&B! Our only disappointment was not staying longer. The house was beautifully decorated, accommodations were comfortable, and the food, outstanding *chefs kiss*. The host was delightful, clearly putting his soul into this place. Already looking forward to our next stay!!
Fantastic B&B
After a busy week in DC, my husband and I were looking for a tranquil place outside the Charlottesville area, and Red Hill was the perfect place! Close to the wine trail and Blue Ridge Parkway, Chef Herbert went out of his way to make us feel at home in this beautiful renovated B&B! The Magnolia room was bright, nicely decorated, with a clean private bath. We enjoyed each morning having coffee on the porch just outside our room overlooking the beautiful countryside. The gourmet breakfasts were amazing and twice we ate there for dinner. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! Only wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely be back! Thank you Chef Herbert for making this much needed vacation so wonderful!
Highly recommended!!!

GO HERE!
The accommodations are most exceptional, however the service is above and beyond what you’d expect. Chef is an accomplished and professionally trained server, and uses his skills and creativity to make your stay unforgettable. On top of that, Chef has traveled the world and is one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. He made us feel welcome and pampered our entire stay.
Come for the ambiance, the decor, the artwork, the simplistic peace that comes with the experience, and the history, and wake up to the best breakfast you’ve had in ages.
Get the quiche! Not only is it exquisitely made, but be sure to pair it with the fresh herbs picked fresh from his garden fresh that morning. They’re much more than a garnish!
Hidden Gem
Just spent a couple of days in Lovingston and stayed at the Redhill BNB. Beautiful and convenient to wineries, breweries and distilleries. Herbert is awesome and totally down to earth. Every need taken care of. Nice room and beautiful views from balcony. But the breakfast was out of this world. Amazing and lots of work went into it. Not just churned out. Also visited Lovingston Winery, Brentwood Winery and Virginia Distillery. Recommend all 3. And while it is in a gas station the Chicken Coop chicken is great and for dinner you can’t go wrong with Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie. Outstanding Pizza and homemade ice cream. All in all a great experience
Must Stay Here!

My husband and I were looking for a B&B to stay at while we snowboarded at Wintergreen. WOW! What a gem Red Hill is! This B&B sets itself apart with its chef/owner Herbert and his supreme cuisine and hospitality! My husband and I were blown away by the dinner and brunch experiences, all tailored to our preferences with delectable surprises to boot. We really enjoyed talking with Herbert throughout the experience as well. The Bird Room (2 twins) was great for us since we are both light sleepers – very quiet and private setup, modern bath with double sinks en suite, black out blinds, ceiling fan, comfy mattresses. It was easy enough to push the beds together kind of like a cruise ship will do
but still have the more restful experience of not feeling the other toss and turn. The ambiance of the B&B was so very comfortable and relaxed, very much felt at home. We will definitely return here next time we visit the area!
Delightful Afternoon
My 2 cousins and I spent a wonderful afternoon at Red Hill. We were entertained, fed and given a guided tour by Chef Herbert. He made us feel right at home, the food was beyond delicious and very plentiful! The house is beautiful with modern touches, but still has retained the atmosphere of the past, you know you are in
a place that was well lived in and well loved. If you want to relax and be pampered, then this is the place to go.
Perfection
This Bed & Breakfast is wonderfully elegant, comfortable & homey all in one.
Owner Chef Herbert is so welcoming, friendly and engaging you feel like you’re visiting a close relative’s home.
The room are all recently remodeled with new furniture and bedding, but with a charming ambience that is perfect for this almost 100 year home.
And the food is fantastic!
Highly recommend this location for a romantic getaway or a fun group party.
Leaving with a refreshed soul and full belly

We stayed at Red Hill B&B for a quick getaway. We were looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind that was close to hiking and breweries. The property did not disappoint with its historic estate combined with modern amenities. Chef Herbert (the inkkeeper) is a world renowned chef classically trained in France and each meal prepared was a dream. From the 3 course breakfast choices to the 5 course steak dinner everything was uniquely prepared with local ingredients. Chef Herbert and his family were extremely welcoming and exceeded all expectations by watching our 2 month old son during dinner. Would love to plan another trip back to Red Hill!
Perfect weekend getaway

We booked a couple months ago just going off a few very good reviews not sure what to expect. We were looking for a weekend escape outside the city and could not have imagined anything more perfect. On our drive in we called to inquire about dinner which chef originally hadn’t planned but called back an hour later that he would cook for us. It was one of the best meals both of us have had in a long time. Chef Herbert is so welcoming, and has such a vibrant personality with intriguing stories. He is a joy to be around. The rooms were very comfy and cozy. We started off the day with a long walk around the property (w dogs Jack & Olive) with a gorgeous view. The breakfast was remarkable! The most incredible beignets, omelettes, mimosa bar, and compliments from local farms. A few highlights nearby were the Lovingston winery, vitos pizza for a casual dining experience, devils backbone brewery, and silverback distillery. The most perfect weekend – thank you Chef!!
Amazing!
This was the perfect way to round out our wedding/honeymoon weekend! The service was excellent, the host was very friendly, and I’m pretty sure we are going to be coming back here for years to come! 🙂
Relaxing weekend while enjoying the most amazing (hands-on) cooking workshop!

Relaxing weekend while enjoying an amazing hands-on afternoon cooking workshop!
Beautiful manor with great views of the mountains. A highly experience chef, Hebert prepared an amazing upscale menu for six. He integrated me into the cooking process righty way. The best cooking workshop where he openly taught me techniques, gave me tips and recipes. Highly recommended for the cooking afficionado who want to have a firsthand experience in a professional setting. The quality of the ingredients plus Herbert’s cooking expertise delivered an unforgettable mouthwatering feast. Time flew by so quickly as I was having so much fun.
The dinner feast left quite high expectations on us; the breakfast did not disappoint us. The omelet, quiche, croissants, bigness, etc. were delicious and quite abundant.
I highly recommend Red Hill B&B for relaxing, hiking, satisfying your inner-chef, enjoying amazing food and spending quality time with two cute dogs.
What a fantastic experience
This bed and breakfast is phenomenal. Herbert, the owner, is a professional chef. The food he prepares is out of this world and revivals you best restaurant and brunch places. The home is newly renovated and very clean. It is ideal for a weekend get away.
Extraordinary Bed and Breakfast!
We just stayed at the charming Red Hill Bed and Breakfast. Our stay and accommodations could not have been nicer! Our host was warm and welcoming. The breakfast was out of this world with everything made from scratch. We especially enjoyed our canine welcoming committee, Olive and Jack who took us on tours of the expansive property. There is a vineyard adjacent to the Inn. It was impeccably clean and had unique features in every room. I would also highly recommend having the owner/Swiss trained Chef make dinner for you, it was excellent!
This is a super bed

This is a super bed and breakfast! The accommodations are super, food is delicious and the owner/chef is amazing. We’ll be back.
Amazing Accommodations

Top notch service, Chef Herbert makes you feel at home as soon as you open the door. Food and courses of meals can’t be topped anywhere. Every meal is like going to a 5 star restaurant. The house has that amazing southern charm on a beautiful piece of property surrounded by rolling hills and some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets you could ever ask for. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the four legged guest services department. Olive and Jack will keep you entertained and might ask for you to entertain them as well. Two of the sweetest dogs that just add to feeling at home. .
Gourmet Get-Away
Red Hill B&B and its culinary delights are amongst the rare finds in life you will never forget. We enjoyed a true gourmet get-away, just about 2 hours from D.C. We were enchanted by this historic mansion, which recently was fully renovated into a chic B&B with 5 tastefully decorated rooms, all equipped with modern bathrooms. The owner Herbert is a great host and – it turned out – a renowned chef who spontaneously treated us with an amazing dinner with clams royales, filet mignon with chef sauce, and beignets with Swiss chocolate. The next morning, the home-made beignets and quiche were a delight. The two dogs, Jack and Olive, added fun and entertainment. Overlooking the rolling hills, Red Hill B&B is strategically located near plenty of hiking and biking trails around the Blue Ridge Parkway, and close to skiing options at Wintergreen. Thank you for the wonderful visit! We are planning another visit soon – hopefully with another exquisit dinner.
Exquisite dinner and breakfast
I was so impressed with Herbert ( the owner and chef) that prepared are dinner for us so wonderfully and offered to cook for us so we would not have to go back out for dinner. It was spontaneous but as if he had planned the hole meal from start to finish! It was such a pleasure having him as our chef and I feel like I have made a true kindred spirit! From his attention to detail in our room and at dinner and breakfast, was just amazing. I was so pleased and will definitely be back with friends . I recommend his bed and breakfast to be used as just a quiet night away or a wedding venue or a whole week stay. Thank you for such an awesome night away!!!!
We chose Red Hill Bed
We chose Red Hill Bed and Breakfast in Lovington, VA to celebrate our 56 wedding anniversary. Our stay was amazing. We enjoyed the mountain views, beautiful sunset, beautifully restored family farm and landscape, neighboring winery, and comfortable amenities. The owner, who is a chef, treated us like royalty. Breakfast was an a la carte feast made fresh in the morning. Playing with Olive and Jack was a bonus! I recommend the Red Hill B&B highly. Next year will be even better. There will be a hot tub and fire pit positioned just so you can see the lovely sunset. Oh-you must see the 100 year old magnolia tree!
A wonderful stay!

My husband and I had such an amazing and relaxing time at Red Hill B&B. We really needed a weekend away from the D.C. area and got so much more than we expected. The B&B was easy to find and the minute we stepped in the door, the owner was extremely gracious and made us feel at home. Our room was sparkling clean, nicely decorated and had modern amenities like USB charging device and black out shades, which I really appreciated! The bathroom felt really new, modern, and had fresh clean towels. Breakfast was phenomenal. The best B&B breakfast you’ll ever have with so many options and courses. You cannot beat the fresh beignets (the owner makes them daily from scratch) and the best omelet I’ve ever had with fresh ingredients. The Nespresso expresso machine was also a real treat. There is a ton of hiking trails nearby with great breweries, and wineries in the area. We also did a short trip to downtown Lynchburg was is such an incredibly cute down and very close. Thank you for an amazing stay. We will definitely be back!

Anniversary Get Away
We picked the Red Hill Bed and Breakfast to celebrate our 56th wedding anniversary. We were very pleased with everything-the beautiful view of the mountains, the gorgeous sunset, the beauty if the restored old farm, and comfort of the accommodations. The owner, who is a chef, treated us like royalty. The a la carte breakfast was 5 stars! Oh-You must meet Olive and Jack. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
Outstanding B&B!

This B&B is amazing! Herbert, an amazing chef, is a caring and generous host, providing a breakfast that any 5 star restaurant would be hard pressed to compete with! He provides mimosa’s and 3 courses of amazing choices, cooked to order just for you – and arranged for any time between 6 and noon! The house is beautiful and historical, dating back to 1835, but updated amenities make your stay quite comfortable. We spent 2 nights and very much enjoyed the Blue Room. The grounds are also thoughtfully presented, even including a tree sheltered get-away complete with a movie screen if you want to enjoy some entertainment outdoors. The scenery is breathtaking and will be amazing come fall with the hills covered with changing leaves. Highly recommend – just a gem of a B&B!
If you’re looking for a quick getaway

If you’re looking for a quick getaway and something other than a boring hotel I highly recommend this place in Lovingston,VA. Hebert, the owner is a very talented and hospitable DC chef and dad to his sweet 3 kids who help him. They just opened 7 weeks ago but you’d never know it. We had such an amazing time and definitely plan to come back. This beautiful Victorian house was built in 1835 was so welcoming. Our room was so comfortable and even had its own bathroom/shower. Breakfast was the best I’ve ever had. The beignets, our 1st course (and frankly one of the reasons I chose this B&B) were delicious! You can’t go wrong with anything you choose for your 2nd course. Thank you Red Hill Bed & Breakfast for making this trip to see our daughter a memorable one. We’ll be back for another game of Phase 10 and to play with Olive and Jack (the sweetest pups, so don’t be scared) really soon!
A Magical Time
Red Hill B&B in Lovingston is amazing! We loved every moment there! The talented host Herbert prepared, literally, the BEST breakfast we’ve ever had in our lives. I can’t say enough about what a beautiful stay we had. I love art & history, trees & fresh air, fresh food, chickens, dogs & relaxation- we had all of that & more at this special place. Can’t wait to come back. We couldn’t find accommodations closer to Charlottesville & ended up here- so glad we lucked out & enjoyed the “Blue Room” here. Loved the porches, the welcoming feeling & the peace.
Great Quiet Weekend
Had a very nice quiet stay. Clean comfortable room with a great cooked to order breakfast. Nice sitting room with a well stocked bar
We recently spent two wonderful
We recently spent two wonderful days at Red Hill and enjoyed every minute. My room was very spacious with an en suite and every amenity. Our host Herbert was entertaining and gracious, not to mention a fabulous chef. Breakfast was luxurious with several mimosa flavors, hot beignets, and choices such as quiche Lorraine, Belgian waffle, eggs and several others.
Red Hill is just off Rte. 29 in the midst of wineries and distilleries. A wonderful experience.
Two perfect days of relaxation
Two perfect days of relaxation and pampering. The setting alone was worth the visit. This 1835 home has been turned into a charming, relaxing sanctuary. The owner and chef, Herbert, brings a European flare to this Southern Hideaway. His charm and way with food is phenomenal. Breakfast was a delight for the eye and the pallet: mimosas, fresh hot beignets, and choice of many delicious entrées. To say it was a wonderful experience is an understatement.
Our quick overnight visit to
Our quick overnight visit to Red Hill was amazing! Will recommend to anyone visiting Nelson County. There were plenty of local Wineries and Breweries that surrounded Red Hill to where it was a quick trip to spend the day out in town. Breakfast was AMAZING!
